PITTSBURGH - Officials say a major bridge into downtown Pittsburgh is closed after a fire that began on a construction tarp. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said the Liberty Bridge is closed indefinitely while state transportation inspectors examine the damage from a Friday afternoon blaze. Crews are conducting an $80 million reconstruction project on the bridge. A Transportation Department spokesman tells the paper the fire started in a tarp being used to control painting work and spread to nearby plastic pipes.

And she's the somber woman, with telling bruises and a black eye, in the stark Polaroids locked away in a bank vault. Thirty years later, Nicole's three sisters want her remembered for more than those static images or the violent way she died.

Officials during that meeting said speeding caused nearly 41 percent of Pennsylvania traffic deaths. They also said House Bill 606 would help address this issue by allowing local police to use radar guns, among other things.
