Scranton officer critically injured in shooting identified

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Officials offered an update Friday afternoon on the shooting thatleft an officer injured on Thursday morning. They identified the critically injured officer as Detective Kyle Gilmartin, who has been with the department for nine years. Gilmartin remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition at Geisinger CMC. Detective Kyle Gilmartin was injured on 01/11/24 from an officer-involved shooting in West Scranton. Gilmartin boasts a commendable 9-year tenure with the Scranton Police Department.

Democratic representative accused of pulling fire alarm near Capitol to delay funding vote

WASHINGTON (TND) — A congressman from New York is being accused of bad behavior before the House voted on the funding bill to keep federal agencies open. An investigation is already underway and there are calls for prosecution. Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., pulled the alarm in a Capitol office building. The GOP-controlled House Administration Committee, which oversees issues pertaining to the Capitol complex, posted a picture from the U.S. Capitol Police showing a man pulling the fire alarm who appeared to be Bowman.

DuBois woman charged with DUI for causing crash that seriously injured couple

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Sandy Township Police Department have filed charges against a DuBois woman following an investigation into a two-vehicle crash that took place last September. According to the affidavit, police were dispatched to the crash, in the area of Mountain Run Road and Route 255, on Sept. 2nd. Investigators say the driver of a 2005 Jeep Cherokee and the driver and passenger of a 2012 Ford F-150 all suffered injuries in the crash.

Lakemont Park Holiday Lights on the Lake returns for 27th season

Holiday Lights on the Lake returns to Lakemont Park in Altoona for it's 27th season and will be featuring traditional and new displays, along with treats from 150 sponsors, a press release states. According to a press release by the park, Holiday Lights on the Lake will be open from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. daily November 17th through January 7. The event will feature traditions such as the Avenue of Trees, Tunnel of Lights and cinnamon nuts by Nuts for You while also enjoying some new ceramic LED illuminated displays.
