MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexicans went to the polls Sunday to vote for who will likely be the country's first female president, voicing concerns overwhelmingly about security, from the power of Mexico's drug cartels down to street-level stick-ups. They were choosing between two women, a former academic who promises to continue outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's populist policies and an ex-senator and tech entrepreneur who pledges to up the fight against deadly drug cartels.

Officials investigating death of inmate at SCI Houtzdale

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — State police and officials with the Clearfield County coroner's office are investigating the death of an inmate at SCI Houtzdale. According to the prison's Acting Superintendent David Close, 33-year-old Matthew Vanzandt was found unresponsive in his cell on Wednesday, May 11. UPMC lifting temporary masking policy

Officials with UPMC announced that the hospital system will soon be lifting its temporary masking policy, which had been reinstated in December in response to a rise in respiratory illness cases. According to a UPMC spokesperson, the policy will be lifted, beginning Feb. 29th. "Each virus is still present in our communities and can infect, creating difficulties for some. Staff, patients, support persons and visitors are still encouraged to wear masks, and some specific locations may require masking.

Westmont Hilltop School District classes to start on time

WESTMONT - Classes are expected to start on time for students at Westmont Hilltop School District. During Monday night’s school board meeting, the concern of asbestos in the high school building was a concern on if the date would be pushed back. “There’s no consideration to change the start date of classes,” school board president Matt Thomas said Tuesday. Officials said a $25,000 change order was approved at the school board meeting to pay workers overtime to get rid of the asbestos and finish up renovations.
