PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A judge has barred enforcement of an executive order signed by Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney last week banning guns and deadly weapons from the city’s indoor and outdoor recreation spaces, including parks, basketball courts and pools.
Common Pleas Judge Joshua Roberts on Monday ordered Philadelphia “permanently enjoined” from enforcing the order after a legal challenge, citing Pennsylvania state law that prohibits any city or county from passing gun-control measures, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The NFL released its schedule on Thursday night and we now know who and when the Pittsburgh Steelers will be playing for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Pittsburgh will open the season at home against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Steelers' 2023 schedule also includes four primetime games, highlighted by a Week 2 matchup at home against the Cleveland Browns.
Pittsburgh is also scheduled to play two Thursday night games, both at home.
NEW DELHI (AP) — A massive fire broke out Saturday in an amusement park in Gujarat state in western India, killing at least 22 people, including several children, police said.
The fire erupted at the park in the city of Rajkot in Gujarat state. Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava said the blaze was under control and a rescue operation was underway.
Police officer Vinayak Patel confirmed the death of 22 people in the fire incident.
ALTOONA -- The Central Blair Recreation and Park Commission is seeing an increase in bad behavior from parents, coaches and fans at elementary school basketball games.
Officials are trying to figure out how to stop it.
Kara Gates has been coaching her basketball team of sixth-grade boys for three years.
And she says she's seen a drastic change in the behavior from parents and coaches.
"I've seen coaches thrown out of games,” Gates said.
