Investigation into Singapore Airlines turbulence that killed British man begins

BANGKOK (AP) — Aviation investigators arrived in Bangkok Wednesday to learn how and why severe turbulence sent a Singapore Airlines plane into a sudden dive that tossed passengers and crew around the cabin, leaving a British man dead and dozens others injured. Twenty people remained in intensive care in hospital after Flight SQ321, which was flying from London’s Heathrow airport to Singapore, hit the turbulence Tuesday over the Andaman Sea. The Boeing 777, which carried 211 passengers and 18 crew members, descended 6,000 feet (around 1,800 meters) in about three minutes, the carrier said.

Man gets 20 to 40 years for role in Edder's Den shooting, attorney to appeal

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - A man charged in connection with a 2014 murder was sentenced Tuesday. Keith Reed was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison after he was found guilty in March of conspiracy third-degree in the 2014 shooting death of Tony Phillips. The sentence is the maximum Reed can get for the crime. Reed will be credited for time served, nearly four years, and his attorney, Tim Burns, said he is going to file an appeal in the coming days, citing Rule 600, claiming Reed was not given the right to a speedy trial.

Nanty Glo Conemaugh Ebandjieff Clinic to 'reopen this year'

Cambria County, PA — Conemaugh Health leaders say work repairing structural issues at the Ebandjieff Clinic in Nanty Glo is underway, and they hope to have it finished later this year. Conemaugh vice president of operations, Tony Campagna, says he saw a lot of people at a town hall meeting on Tuesday, in Nanty Glo. Locals say it was put together to discuss what would happen to the Conemaugh Ebandjieff clinic in town.

Parade kicksoff 2019 Clearfield County Fair

CLEARFIELD, Pa. (WJAC) — The Clearfield County fair is underway. The fair's live music performances always draw quite the crowd. This year, the biggest name on the list is "Kansas" who will be performing Saturday. On Monday, people prepared for the main attraction -- the parade. But this year comes with some changes. The fair board is now enforcing a rule that they say has been on the books for years: You are not allowed to throw candy from moving vehicles on the parade route.

'He's got a gun!' Tennessee student jokes. Now, he's barred from prom, graduation

GRUNDY COUNTY, Tenn. — 'Gus has got a gun!' It wasn't true. But those five words now have a high school senior in hot water in Grundy County, Tennessee. The family of James Morgan Sitz says other students goaded Sitz into saying those words while on school grounds, and says he was only joking. But school officials determined it was no laughing matter. Sitz was suspended from Grundy County High School for the rest of the year, and he won't be able to attend that school's prom or graduation ceremonies.
