Cambria County Fair sees high turnout despite sizzling temperatures

High temperatures. High humidity. High turnout rates for the Cambria County Fair. Vendors and customers looking to stay cool this week. The American Legion County fair is held every year here in Ebensburg. Vendors say this year the fair is different from before. They say the 2022 season had a lot of rain. Now sun with above average temperatures. Administrators say what makes this year’s event more special is that this is the first time it hasn't rained heavily at the fair since before the pandemic.

Former Penguin, Stanley Cup champion Max Talbot to make appearance at Tomahawks game

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The Johnstown Tomahawks announced that former Pittsburgh Penguin and Stanley Cup Champion Max Talbot will be making a special appearance at an upcoming game. Talbot is scheduled to make a private appearance, as well as participate in a public meet-and-greet on Friday, March 24th. “We are excited to host another former Penguin at a game, especially a fan favorite like Max,” said Derek Partsch, Tomahawks director of business operations.

Local veterans home recognizes volunteers

The Hollidaysburg Veterans Home honored 24 people and 28 organizations for their contributions Wednesday, thanking those that volunteer their time with veterans. 10 of those people spent more than 100 hours in 2023 with residents, including Volunteer of the Year Pattie Fromknecht, who had a whopping 272 hours. The guest speaker, Retired Brig. Gen. Maureen Weigl, thanked volunteers for their time, talents, and support of veterans. Weigl said, "You being here uplifts them every single time, just seeing that the community of care is there for them; that you didn't forget what they served and what they did to earn that respect, and make sure they're feeling like this is their home.

More tax credits could be coming to drivers with electric vehicles

WASHINGTON (TND) — A few new rule changes by the U.S. government could allow more electric vehicle owners to get a tax credit. "Well at the end of the day, it's simply going to incentivize more folks to consider purchasing EVs," said Shelton Weeks, a professor in the department of economics & finance at Florida Gulf Coast University. This year, tax credits will become available when you buy an EV from an authorized dealer.
