Philipsburg's annual Heritage Days festival returns after two-year hiatus

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — In downtown Philipsburg, the annual Heritage Days Festival is underway. The festival features the Moshannon Valley's heritage and this year's theme is "rich history, prosperous future.” Vendors and visitors we spoke with were happy to be returning downtown after the festival was cancelled during the past two years, saying that there is plenty see and do, including a full schedule of entertainment. PNG releases preliminary cause of gas leak that led to deadly house explosion in Tyrone

TYRONE, Pa. (WJAC) — Following their preliminary investigation, Peoples Natural Gas says they believe they know what caused a deadly house explosion in Tyrone last month. Peoples Spokesperson Barry Kukovich says the company has been led to believe that the gas leak was caused by a pipeline being struck by a horizontal drill operated by a contractor working on a water project. “Our preliminary investigation leads us to believe that the gas leak on July 26th in Tyrone, Pennsylvania was due to our pipeline being struck by a horizontal drill operated by a contractor working on a water project,” Kukovich said in a statement emailed to 6 News.

Community group hosts active assault community training as mass shootings rise nationally

The number of mass shootings nationally has been steadily increasing in the past years. Many groups have been organizing community trainings on what to do if one takes place. The West End Improvement Group hosted an active assault community training demonstration to address this issue. According to the Gun Violence Archive there have already been 93 mass shootings in the united states since the start of the new year, that’s more mass shootings than days in 2023.
